The Thermae Berzieri monumental complex, built between 1914 and 1923, stands as a remarkable example of thermal Art Déco architecture, featuring an extraordinary decorative richness in both its exterior and interior — a blend of Déco, Liberty, and Oriental influences. Since its inception in 1923, the complex has functioned as the municipal thermal baths of Salsomaggiore, a premier destination in Italy renowned for its therapeutic salsobromoiodic waters, celebrated since Roman and Celtic times. The building’s captivating façade is entirely crafted from with multicolored marble, mosaics, and majolica, while the lavish interior features a striking double-height atrium decorated with marble, gold accents, stucco, and frescoes. In 2023, a comprehensive restyling project was launched to reposition the iconic property as a modern spa and wellness center, aiming to revitalize Salsomaggiore’s thermal tourism appeal. The renovation is planned for completion by the end of 2025. The entire property has been leased to QC Terme, Italy’s leading spa and wellness group, under long-term 20 + 10 year contract, effective upon project completion.
